Max Verstappen made his endurance racing debut on September 13, 2025, at the 65th ADAC ACAS Cup (NLS7) at the Nürburgring. Instead of a top-spec machine, he drove a detuned Porsche Cayman GT4, over 130 horsepower down on his class rivals, which meant he couldn’t fight for victory.
Qualifying took place in the wet, which played to Verstappen’s strengths, as the lack of power was less of a handicap than it would have been in dry conditions. TV commentators were impressed, noting: “Max in this Permit B car is 16 seconds slower than the leading car in Cup 3 class. This is insanely quick.”
In the race, however — especially at the start — the power deficit was clear. On the long straight, Verstappen’s car was visibly swallowed up, with rivals passing him left and right.
Still, Verstappen achieved his main goal — securing the DMSB Permit Nordschleife, allowing him to compete in GT3 races at the legendary track, including the famous 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
“I’m happy it all went smooth, and I got my DMSB Permit Nordschleife. I really enjoyed myself, but that’s always the case around here”, said Max.
